But they’re impossible to find. Ideally I would find a !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! with better bumpers. The parts have to be out there, right? In some back room in Japan or Australia? But I can’t even come up with stock replacements for the busted body panels.

Extant forums are useless. First gen CRXs are far more rare than second gens, so searches don’t yield much. It’s hard to even reach other people who still own these, since the generation-specific forums are ghost towns. (I’m looking at you, Red Pepper Racing.)

I think there just aren’t that many parts left stateside, and the remaining customer base is so small that international sellers don’t find it worth their time to list parts online. What I need is a contact abroad who knows how to find this stuff and send it to me. Maybe I should hunt on Instagram or some Aussie forums.

Anyway, the waaambulance is pulling away. Just wanted to express my frustration for a moment.

You should be able to source parts from the U.K. easily enough.

There are still plenty of first and second gen CR-Xs on the roads here.

There’s First Choice Spares-

https://www.1stchoice.co.uk/car-parts/honda/crx

Auto Village-

http://www.autovillage.co.uk/car-parts/part-request

Breakeryard-

http://www.breakeryard.com/honda-car-parts/crx

There are others. The last two are types where you say what you want, the breakeryards up and down the U.K. look to see what part your after and e-mail to say if they have it and how much they want for it, either buy it, haggle the price down or say no thanks.

Sorry, but I can’t help you with the CRX parts. I scrolled down after looking at the BMW 6-cyl motorcycle post and read your post as wanting C B X parts. Something about I6 motorcycle engines gets me a little excited.

Here’s a Benelli to keep the (non-)theme alive:

I’m right there with you. That phalanx of pipes up front... ung...

I’ve actually thought it would be a fun project someday to find a non-Si first gen CRX and swap in the CBX engine. It’s more powerful than the D15 in the CRX, and probably lighter.

That’s a good idea. I actually found that first one a while back, but the second one looks like they regularly ship internationally, so that’s another option. Thanks!

I’m always thinking about these kinds of swaps, but I wonder how far to go with them. With the CRBX, would you keep it FWD, or would something like that be better converted to RWD? Are the handling benefits worth the extra weight and complexity of changing the car to RWD? S2000 parts, I’d assume.

When I first got my E34 my mind went a little crazy, with thoughts of a V12 under the hood. But then I realized I like handling more than straight-line performance, and thought of all of the great I6s that could go under the hood instead. But chances are, when I’m long gone and the car is headed to the scrapper, the original 2.5l 12-valve I6 will still be under the hood...

No worries fella.

Also check out the Honda CRX forum here in the U.K.

I’m sure they’ll be more than happy to point you into the right direction.

Yeah, I have the same thoughts. I think a CRBX would be more of a novelty/show item than an actual performer. It only makes about 63 lb-ft of torque, while the D15 makes a more car-appropriate 93. It would just be fun to look under the hood and see all those pipes grinning back. And the sound would be awesome.

Awesome. I’d only found the second of those forums before. Bookmarked.

We may only drive small hatchbacks or slow estates for the most part but we still love our cars and have a forum or database on virtually any and all cars. Not to mention the British tradition of documenting every ruddy thing that ever happened anywhere. ;)

Oh yeah. I would always watch the cheap car challenges on Top Gear and wonder where the guys found all those awesome old heaps and for such great money. Here some of those cars are so rare their population has dwindled to almost nothing.

This is great, because I need to replace both of my sagging bumper covers, and if I can’t find a Mugen kit, I’d like to track down some more stylish Euro bumpers.

There is a tired first gen (1992) CRX on Autotrader for GBP£1,850 (USD$2,830) if push comes to shove for a 1.6i VTEC. Needs some work but hey, don’t we all.

Interior needs reupholstered and has some cosmetic rust in the corners.

Have fun fella. I’m off to work for a nightshift, take care and I hope you find all you need.

Interesting. In the US that’s considered a 2nd gen CRX, in line with the EF Civics. The 1st gen was made from ‘84-’87. Thanks again and have a great night!

Ar, yes. I got the gens mixed up for a second. Our first gen was 83-87. My bad.
